In short

  • Our goal is WCAG 2.2 level AA, in the light and in the dark theme.
  • Keyboard, screen readers, high contrast mode and reduced motion are supported.
  • Something not working? Write to [email protected].

1. Our goal

Beacon aims to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA on every public page and in the signed-in area, in both the light and the dark theme. This statement covers the Beacon website; the Twitch panel extension is covered only for the parts we control (section 3).

2. What works

  • Light and dark theme follow your system setting. Text and controls are designed to the WCAG contrast ratios in both.
  • High contrast mode (Windows contrast themes, forced colours): selected, live, disabled and focused states keep a visible border or system colour.
  • Reduced motion: if your system asks for it, animations and transitions are turned off.
  • Keyboard: everything works without a mouse, focus is always visible, and a "Skip to content" link opens every page.
  • Screen readers: real buttons, links and form fields with labels; errors are tied to their field; results and live updates are announced politely, without moving your focus.
  • Live status is never colour alone: a dot always comes with the word "Live".
  • Charts have a text description with their key numbers.
  • Touch targets are at least 44 pixels; pages adapt to narrow screens and browser zoom.
  • English and Italian: each page declares its language.

3. Known limits

Known limits, mostly content we do not write:

  • Stream thumbnails and titles come from Twitch and Kick. Thumbnails have no description (the title next to them says what the stream is); titles are written by streamers, in any language, and are not marked with it.
  • Logos, banners, descriptions and links of teams, organizations and creators come from their owners.
  • The Twitch panel extension runs inside Twitch's page and player: the frame, the player and their controls are Twitch's. Signing in with Twitch also happens on Twitch.
  • Discord notifications are shown by Discord, in its own interface.

4. How we check

This statement is a self-assessment: we check contrast on the design tokens and test the pages ourselves with the keyboard, browser zoom and the system settings above. Beacon has not been audited by an external party and holds no accessibility certification.

5. Report a problem

If something on Beacon is hard or impossible to use for you, write to [email protected]. Tell us the page, what you were trying to do, and the browser and assistive technology you use, if any. If we cannot fix it quickly, we will give you the information or do the action for you in another way.
